The fifth installment of the Dragon Slayer series by Falcom. Released on multiple platforms, the Megadrive version is considered as one of the best port, with enhanced gameplay and graphics, and original chapters.

Developped internally by Sega with several members of Phantasy Star team (including game designer Rieko Kodama, Takako Kawaguchi, musician Tokuhiko Uwabo, and Yasushi Yamaguchi). It explains why Phantasy Star III, which was developped simultaneously by another less experienced team, is so different from the other episodes.
