Utilities
- An experimental level viewer was made by SmallHacker, but the project has been abandoned since.
- The first tool for hacking Donkey Kong Country, DKEdit, is/was developed in Japan and is hosted here (English translation). The tool provides the most basic hacking functionality but can only view tile graphics.
- A slightly more advanced hacking tool, dubbed the DKC Resource Editor or DKCRE for short, is being developed by moderator Simion32 of DKC Atlas. Its progress is being reported on regularly at this forum thread. It can edit most of the things you can see in-game (except grouped objects), and advanced features are pending development for inclusion to future builds. The current version is v0.0.6.3 and includes new tile editing features as well as some important bug fixes.
Hacks
- There are no highly notable Donkey Kong Country hacks in English, although several Japanese hacks exist.
- DKC Reloaded is the only known collaborative DKC hack project, focused mainly around level hacking.
Translations
- None known.
Miscellaneous
- Donkey Kong Country was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in November 25, 1994. It was the first game ever to be fully rendered with three dimensional sprites.
