::My current theory is that it's part of the filesystem and pksdir stands for pks directory. I don't think the string needs to be read, It's just a symbol of where a file should start for the developers to use somehow. It's like the SIRO header, or a file type on a PC: never needed to be displayed or anything, but significant as metadata.
