I actually created this ROM hack a while back (with the goombas turned into cars and pirahna plants turned into electric plugs). I didn't realize it was actually recognized by anyone. :-P The game was not inspired by Weird Al's song.
I don't think the comment about 'medieval attitudes' is appropriate either (not that I'm Almish or anything, but comments like that about other people who are different than you are just inappropriate).
I hope it would not be too gauche of me to correct the article proper?
